Catawba College Indian's Wrestling - Page 1
It is late in October 04 and the Indian's fourth NCWA Season started with a mid-week meeting at 4:30PM in the Wrestling Room. It produced a flower supporting the great season that closed in March with a National Champion (MOW) and the Indian's third wrestler to win at the NCWA's, which propelled Catawba to place 22nd. Regarding, CC's club student officers, coaches, alumni via College's Club Directors are getting the job done. On Oct 20, 2004 at 4:00PM a renewed quest begins for 04-05 based on strong backbone of new wrestlers and team members.
Following Arron Lambert's 2003 lead as CC's first NCWA All-American, Willie Hosch became Catawba initial NCWA Champion and Most Outstanding Wrestler. With his placement points, Catawba improved in National standings from 25th to 22nd when Danny Meisenheimer's National performance points were added. Thus with both outstanding wrestlers back, Catawba's Coaching Staff feels that their wrestling program will climb even higher in 04-05 with the addition of several additional promising wrestlers...Sean, Devin, David, Ross, Jessie that will via for and qualify for Nationals. Moreover, many other newcomers have joined the squad, which will fill in some missing spots quite well. Pertaining, Catawba's Dr. Clapp Wrestling Room moved in Jan 04 to the Aux. Gym where Catawba's Wrestling practices and conducts some meets. 2 mats all located here; one for practice, which is 42 * 42 and doubles as our meet mat. The wrestlers also often spend time in the well equipted weight room and make use of the school's track .
Therefore, we are well postioned; yet, we are working on additional mats and space via a joint efforts with The Friends of Catawba Wrestling's Alumni Assocation, including RCW supporters and College Administration. Come join us, during 04-05 practices from 4:00-5:30PM Monday-Friday. In the past, the Indain's have many 'outsiders' during practice, having the privilage of some of the local wrestlers (former high school/college) join us. Some even rnrolled in school with and thus wrestled for the school via NCWA's 6 semester hours and 5 year eligibility program.
Catawba's Club-Team Coaches:

Page 2 - CATAWBA's YOUTH PROGRAM (RCW)
In 2002, Coaches Johnson - Patton created a Parochial - Private - Home School Wrestling Club for PreK-8th Graders. A student or groups of students that are not currently wrestling in Rowan County may and are encouraged to attend. Upwards of 20 boys and a few girls regularly attended practice in 2003-04. This Youth club is growing. The squad's name is Rowan Christian Wrestlers (RCW).
Practice: 5:30-6:20PM Monday-Thursday starting Oct 20, 2004.
NC State Kid's Championships (Feb. 5th) concludes their season. Yet, wrestling continues on again in mid/late March as Catawba wrestles all age groups, the team's name is Rowan Christian Wrestlers.
Cost per wrestler in 04-05 is $85.00 for the NCWA season with students paying any individual tournament entry fee. The fee includes NC-USA membership card and insurance valid for the 2004-05 Wrestling Season (including insurance for Catawba's Day and Stay-Over Camps and spring events).
RCW's main goal is to weave Rowan County Parochial - Private - Home School - College and older individuals together, as we foster wrestling...thus we teach both folkstyle and freestyle along with good, moral, Christian values . Currently we have boys and a few girls members from Rowan-Salisbury Public Schools, North Hills, and Sacred Heart School, plus several Home School families attending...We welcome comments, wrestlers, donations and/or advice.
Come join in the FUN, SKILL ATTATINMENT, and stay for PRAYER!
